Biography

Tribute: Oliverio Girondo Audio

Tribute: Oliverio Girondo

Oliverio Girondo (1891-1968) was one of the most important poets of the Argentinean vanguard of the ‘20s. He published, among others, "Veinte poemas para ser leídos en el tranvía", "Interlunio" and "Campo Nuestro".
In 1932, when he published "Espantapájaros", this bold poet organized the advertising of the book in a horse hearse, with a paper mache copy of the "academic" painter José Bonomi draw for the book cover.
In 1954, he published a first version of "En la masmédula", which last version appeared two years later. But it was only in 1960, when Arturo Cuadrado and Carlos A. Mazzanti decided to record it as a long-play, read by Girondo himself. This recording is, up to now, the only known registry of his voice.
