Tribute: Osvaldo Soriano
Last January 29, ten years from his dead, Osvaldo Soriano was tributed at La Chacarita cemetery. His remains were moved to a peaceful corner of the cemetery, and it can be read on the tombstone plaque "No more deads… and he started to close the tombstone" ("Basta de muertes… y empezó a cerrar la tumba), from "Triste, solitario y final". There were there, by his widow, Catherine Brucher and his son Manuel (16 years old) and, among others: Francisco N. Juárez –colleague from Primera Plana, who read a letter Osvaldo Bayer had written for the event–, Héctor Olivera and Roberto "Tito" Cossa. His son, Manuel, told he had travelled from France, where he lives with his mother, to talk with Soriano’s friends and take with him a more complete image of who his father was. In the video he says he has read his father’s books in French, but he wants now to improve his Spanish because he knows reading his father in his original language won’t be the same. He says he remember, most of all, the bedtime stories his father used to tell him and the problems that used to bring him with his teachers, who called him a liar when he repeated his father’s stories at school. Jorge Telerman, Buenos Aires City Government Chief, compared Osvaldo Soriano literature with the one of Roberto Arlt, and stated his intention of making the place of the honor plaque to the writer a must place to visit of the turist’s circuit of this city.
